Lossiemouth's two outstanding beaches - miles of sand stretching in each direction - have always made it a popular summer holiday destination.
On the Moray Coast Trail, the town offers a variety of small local shops and services an active sailing and small fishing community. It also has two 18-hole links golf courses and a large caravan park at Silver Sands.
Once the port for Elgin, Lossiemouth is now best known for its large RAF base and its distinctive lighthouse.
